Tony McKie
From the beginning, Tony McKie’s mission has been simple: connect great music with great BBQ by sharing the talents of emerging and often overlooked artists with a like-minded community of music lovers. Built on Americana, blues, and bluegrass, with plenty of inspired jams in between, Home Team BBQ has always been a welcoming home for original, under-the-radar artists alongside well-established friends in rock ’n’ roll.
Starting with the original West Ashley location in 2006 and continuing today on Sullivan’s Island and in Downtown Charleston, “TMc” curates an eclectic mix of original music that reflects the Home Team spirit. As the driving force behind Home Team’s live music programming, he’s known for his enthusiasm, deep relationships within the music world, and his genuine love for the fellowship that brings people together around food and sound.
In addition to booking nightly and weekly performances, Tony independently produces larger-scale events like Rock the Block and the Holy Smokes BBQ Festival, blending past relationships with new discoveries to create memorable experiences for artists and guests alike. Over the years, Home Team stages have hosted an impressive range of talent, helping solidify the restaurants as an important part of the regional and national music scene, with the Home Team stage being home to voices like Big Bill Morganfield, Lil Dave Thompson, Thriftstore Cowboys (w/ Amanda Shires), Eddie Kirkland, and Marcus King Band.
Tony continues to explore and support original artists throughout the Charleston area while balancing special events, a full football season (Go DAWGS!), and plenty of other excellent fun along the way.
